Sirens in the Street
|
Sirens in the street; Fire engine, ambulance And two cop cars, Racing eastward. They’re gone. It’s all quiet now, But for the radio news And the passing cars hum. My thoughts move on. Bridge collapse, A man kills another, Employment’s down, The war goes on The weather’s coming up… I turn off the radio. Weak lukewarm coffee And the dirty window view Of a strange, beautiful, Filthy world.
