June 11, 2007 - Well, Brennon just played at the 18th Annual Billtown Blues Festival... and WOW what a show!! A great lineup made for a great day of music, food and general camaraderie. Thanks a million to the folks in the Billtown Blues Association - especially Lori and Tom Butler and Bonnie Tallman. You certainly put together a great festival and we look forward to attending next year! More info on the Billtown Blues Association can be found at www.billtownblues.org. |

March 28, 2007 - A new low for the News page of our website... it has been nearly ONE YEAR since this site has been updated and News has been posted. Brennon has been playing off and on around the Central Pennsylvania Region, most recently at the Billtown Blues Challenge where he was voted runner-up, thus qualifying him to represent the Billtown Blues Association at next year's International Blues Challenge! We are certainly looking forward to heading back to Tennessee for this festival... maybe we will stop in Nashville and catch a couple of writer's rounds, for old time's sake! I will not make any grandiose promises about keeping this news page up to date... clearly, I am not keeping my word on those promises!
May 08, 2006 - Your devoted masternerd of this website has resolved to keep up with this blasted site if it kills her!! I know that the select handful of people who still periodically check this ordinarily stagnant website are absolutely stunned to find that I have updated this site not once but TWICE in one month! Hopefully I can keep up my resolution to try to have a nice up-to-date webhaven for Brennon John fans. That being said, I would like to direct you to another great site:
http://www.thesongwritersshowcase.com/
At this site, you will find a podcast of Brennon John's songwriter's showcase from April 24th at the Phyrst in State College, Pa. Bob Timney - Thank you so so much for making this recording possible and for being an absolute delight to work with.
Look for brand-spankin' new songs later this month in the All Things Music section of our site... Brennon John's been busy cooking up some new ditties here and there so I'll try to get some of them up on the site for all of you to enjoy.
Keep checking back for updates!
May 03, 2006 - After months of neglect, the website has finally received a bit of attention from its now quite busy webmaster. Much has happened during the immense span of time that has elapsed since the last news update both musically and personally. However, we will not delve into these topics of conversation at this time. We would like to thank Donnie at St. Drogo Cafe in Hollidaysburg for being straight-up awesome. Also, thanks to Francesco for opening some doors and championing the act. A big thank you to Bob at the Phyrst for having Brennon John as the featured songwriter on April 24th. And finally - thank you, Amelia, for simply being.
November 14, 2005 - October certainly proved to be an eventful month for Brennon John! During a trip to Florida to play at a wedding, he managed to wow the wedding-goers with a tune he cooked up the afternoon of the wedding. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Hetrick, by the way! Unfortunately, due to a pending hurricane, Brennon had to cancel his appearance at the Catherine Hickman Theater in Gulfport, FL. Hopefully we will see him there sometime in the future - weather permitting! Brennon and his sister, Breanne, are now a featured act at the Scotch Valley Country Club in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania every Thursday night from 6-9pm. Country western night with your favorite songman and the very talented Breanne on fiddle and vocals is a crowd-pleaser for sure! And lastly, Brennon and Breanne will be appearing at Webster's Bookstore and Cafe in downtown State College, PA this Friday evening (November 18) at 7pm. Stop by and listen to this great combination of talent while enjoying some of Webster's top-notch coffee and teas!
October 8, 2005 - Some important events to watch for in the near future... Brennon will be playing at the Catherine Hickman Theater in Gulfport, FL October 21 for Balentine Productions' Hot Acoustic Nights series. Also, after yet another smashing success at St. Drogo Cafe in Hollidaysburg, PA, Brennon and Breanne are working on setting up more regular dates with the cafe's owner - check your inbox and the calendar for future dates!
August 12, 2005 - As promised, the website has finally been updated!! Someone really ought to fire the bum running this site! For those of you who couldn't make it to St. Drogo Cafe on August 5th, here's a brief recap of a stellar night. Brennon John truly wowed his audience with a mix of wit, good tunes and general showmanship so often absent in live performance these days. An added highlight to the show was Brennon's sister, Breanne, who joined him during the first half of the show on violin and vocals. Look for Brennon returning to this cafe in the future - they are running a top-notch establishment that offers more than just a cup of joe - patrons that evening had the opportunity to enjoy upscale appetizers from Michael's Cafe in downtown Altoona while sipping fair trade coffee in the cozy cafe. Kudos to both the entertainment and the venue!! We look forward to future engagements at St. Drogo Cafe on Allegheny Street in Hollidaysburg, PA!
June 22, 2005 - Well, our hero has relocated! After finding the southern climate of Nashville just a little too balmy and slow for his liking, Brennon John gathered up his guitars and headed back north to where the air is crisper and the people say "y'unz" instead of "y'all." Things in the railroading town are good, and he has already made an appearance at his old stomping grounds, The Phyrst in State College, Pennsylvania (a few blocks from the Penn State Campus). Keep posted for upcoming dates and we'll try to update this site a little more frequently!!
January 09, 2005 - As you may have noticed, there are some changes going on here at brennonjohn.com... first and foremost, you will want to take note of the ordering information in our merchandise section and secure your copy of VARIATIONS:I today! There ARE other ways of getting this album... for instance, should you catch Brennon playing live, there will be copies available for purchase, these for a flat rate of $10 since there will be no shipping or handling to worry about. Also, CD Baby will have this album for sale on its site, which will enable you to purchase via credit card. However, you will notice the price is higher on CD baby as they charge a certain percent per purchase and we've got to cover costs (gotta feed the monkey somehow...). Though credit card is more convenient, should you choose to purchase this fine recording the good old fashioned way, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing your part to support a completely independent artist... not some corporation. Of course, this is all completely your choice and we don't really mind either way... just wanted to let you know where your money's going (that matters sometimes).
Also, Brennon, along with his esteemed colleagues, will be playing at Top of the Barrel most weekends from here on out. You can catch them from 6-8 Fridays and Saturdays. Hope to see you there.
November 26, 2004 - Once again, another fine performance by Brennon and Lee, this time with Gary Hays sitting in as an extra treat. This evening's writer's round at the French Quarter was great (but seriously, how could it not be??), as was Brennon's performance alongside Melissa Sigler, as well as Lee Tyler Post at Top of the Barrel Wednesday evening. Highlights to the shows were the excellent sound in the venues as well as an increasingly rare gem of Brennon's - "Run River Run." Thanks to all who came out to these past two shows, especially to Lee and Jackie's family and Pennie (so nice to both meet and spend time with all of you - can't wait to do it again!)... At any rate, keep checking for more shows, I'll post 'em as I get 'em...
November 18, 2004 - Well, the Nashville Misfits strike again... the show last night at the Boro Bar and Grill went so well, these three friends have a musical chemistry that just electrifies the room! Next week they will be playing at Top of the Barrel near Bellevue here in Nashville. This is on Wednesday the 24th at 8:30. If you haven't seen these folks play together yet and you are in the Nashville area, try to make it out to this show... you won't be sorry!
Also, the day after Thanksgiving (Friday, November 26th) Brennon will be joining in on a writer's round at the French Quarter Cafe - a very cool venue with very cool performers. don't miss it!
November 14, 2003 - Hmmm... it's been a while since this page has been updated... anyway, some great shows are coming up around Nashville, some at the French Quarter Cafe and a few pending ones at Top of the Barrel, but more imminently, here's the details on the show this Wednesday, November 17, at The Boro Bar and Grill in Murfreesboro... If you need directions from Nashville, click here... The show starts at 9:30 pm and runs til 1:30 pm, Brennon will be onstage with Lee Tyler Post, Melissa Sigler and Gary Hays, all fine musicians and just plain great people... The chemistry is obvious when these folks play together, so if you're free this Wednesday evening, head out to the Boro, you won't be disappointed! There is a $2 cover and drafts are also $2... cheap cover, cheap beer and first class entertainment - we can't think of a better way to spend an evening! We'll see you there!
October 25, 2004 - As you may have noticed on our main page, Brennon will be playing in Birmingham, AL on the 27th (for all you "duderinos" out there, yes, that is THIS WEDNESDAY)... as promised, here are valuable details regarding this performance. The venue is called The Moonlight Music Cafe. Brennon will be onstage with Lee Tyler Post and Melissa Sigler - both are very entertaining musicians. Lee is a songwriter who travels about the country in a gypsy-like manner while wowing audiences with his guitar skills and vocal stylings. Melissa's piano driven blues are sure to please - this Louisiana lady's got soul (not to mention a killer sense of humor)!! These are two of our favorites in the Nashville scene. The show starts at 8 pm. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased either at the door or in advance (see the cafe's website). Be aware that this venue is three hours from Nashville, so if you are planning on making the journey (and we absolutely encourage you to do so!) get directions and plan ahead! This is gonna be one super show and we cannot wait!! Hopefully we'll see you there!!
A side note: we just found out that the show on November 17th at the Boro Bar and Grill will also feature (in addition to Lee, Melissa, and Brennon) the one and only Gary Hays!! If you've never seen him before, take advantage of this opportunity!! He's a great country western singer-songwriter, in the truest sense of the words... a bit reminiscent of Willie and Waylon, if that gives you any idea of what we're dealing with here!
And finally - not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but here's some info about a future show right here in Nashville for those who aren't into traveling... On November 26th, Brennon will be playing a songwriters round at the French Quarter Cafe in East Nashville along side Lee Tyler Post and Gary Hays... so clear your schedules and plan on spending the day after Thanksgiving with us!
October 20, 2004 - Ok, so the "masternerd" for this site has realized that she's made a bit of a blunder...
If you have previously tried to subscribe to the mailing list, you have not been added... there was a bit of a mix-up regarding the workings of said mailing list... please take a few minutes now to re-subscribe to the mailing list by clicking HERE - I promise you'll be added this time!!
Also - it seems we've hit a snag in the production process and the release of the cd will be pushed back a few more weeks... we know you are all anxiously awaiting your chance to buy one... don't worry, you'll be able to get it as soon as we can get this ball rolling...
October 12, 2004 - Good news for those of you in bunches over the pending release of Brennon's CD... he has wrapped up recording and is now in the process of choosing which company he should use to mass produce this opus... soon, my friends soon... so get your stereos warmed up because in a few weeks you're gonna be buying your new favorite CD... maybe we'll even throw a playlist on this site sometime in the near future... or maybe we'll keep it a surprise...
October 8, 2004 - Yet another gig with the always fantastic Lee Tyler Post and equally amazing Melissa Sigler is tentatively on deck for November 17 at The Boro Bar And Grill in Murfreesboro, TN... near the MTSU campus... more details will be provided as we get them!
October 7, 2004 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRENNON!! Work on the cd is continuing at a rapid pace, due to the ever-increasing demand for Brennon's music... In addition, the web site will have more lyrics up shortly and possibly (hopefully and probably) a few more tunes in the listening booth, maybe some new pictures... bear with us... the computer takes fits now and again...
An overdue fond farewell - Hobo Joe's, the bar where Brennon made his Nashville debut and began forming musical alliances, closed its doors on the first of this month. The folks running Hobo Joe's - Gary and Kim Hays - had a unique vision for what a songwriting club should be and they made that vision a reality. Hobo Joe's was more of a community than a bar. But this, as with all things, had to pass, and Hobo Joe saw his last round on Thursday, September 30. The memory of this club, the kindness of its owners AND the greatest bartender alive - Rebecca - shall stay strong in our minds for years to come... However, Gary is now able to spend some time on his writing (he is, as you may or may not know, not only the voice behind songwriters showcases, but also an accomplished singer/songwriter himself), so look for him around Nashville as he will surely be playing out more!! Make sure to hug Kim when you get there...
October 1, 2004 - With a few minor omissions, the official website for all your Brennon John internet needs is up and running. Brennon is currently hard at work being self-unemployed, engaged in the tedious and time consuming labor of compiling an album for an upcoming release. As this album's production nears its finish, we will be accepting orders via email for the purchase of said album. CDs will also be available at any live performances, just look for Katey and she will be more than happy to pocket your cash in exchange for one of the finest CDs your money can buy! Speaking of performances - Brennon will be playing a show at the Moonlight Music Cafe in Birmingham, Alabama along with two very gifted songwriters, Lee Tyler Post and Melissa Sigler on October 27. This is going to be an entertaining and diverse show with amazing tunes and incredible people. Don't miss it - we'll keep you posted on the details...
